That’s right you heard me. Adam Mosseri on Instagram just announced that Instagram is no longer just for posting photos. EEK! ????
As a photographer who works mostly with photos, I was a bit worried. I don’t know about you, but I hate being on video!
But don’t worry! You can still use Instagram for static posts, but they are going to prioritize video content.
If you’re an introvert and you’re feeling worried about these changes you can always find a way around this. But I will admit, that you may have to adjust your marketing to keep your brand is seen on the Instagram platform.
HERE ARE 3 WAYS TO CREATE VIDEOS ON INSTAGRAM:
- Do Instagram lives – You can go live on Instagram and do live Q&A’s. Or if you don’t want to do a live alone you can go live with another person.
- Instagram stories – Stories are a great way to get people to know you and interact with your daily life. You can re-share other peoples posts, create polls, and speak directly to your audience.
- Create Instagram Reels – Create fun and entertaining videos.
So what’s the difference between Instagram Reels and normal video posts?
Reels – are short video clips that are 15-30 seconds long that are more entertaining. This is great for educating, or promoting your products in a fun and easy way. And you have more chances of being discovered on the discovery page, which can get more eyes on you and your content. That means people who do not follow you can learn more about you than an image post or long-form video. With over 400 followers on my Instagram, I had almost 7k views on my reel. That’s insane! Video posts – are usually longer-form videos like IGTV and short videos that are posted in your feed. Honestly, there has been a lot of confusion on what the difference is. Basically, you can not get the same engagement and views with IGTV/videos like you do with Reels.
